Arguably, the most notable individual to come from the historical Fisk University located in Nashville, Tennessee is W.E.B. DuBois. DuBois is a historian, civil rights activist, and one of the founders of the NAACP. DuBois is widely recognized for coining the term ?The Talented Tenth.? The Talented Tenth is meant by DuBois to describe the likelihood and the importance of one in ten black men becoming leaders in the world and becoming part of an elite class.

Being a student at the same university over a century later, KenDough would see DuBois? statue daily and was being groomed by professors, coaches, classmates, colleagues, parents, and life experiences to become a leader in his own right.

Today, individuals like Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Sean ?Jay-Z? Carter, Beyonc? Knowles, Sean ?Diddy? Combs, Tyler Perry, Kanye West, Spike Lee, just to name a few would be considered a ?Talented Tenth.? These individuals have achieved success in their respective fields of politics, sports, and entertainment, and they have used their success to promote and influence social change most importantly amongst African Americans and all races around the world, give back to communities, and create and provide many opportunities.

Drawing motivation from the names mentioned above, KenDough wants to be mentioned and be in a circle with those individuals, KenDough wants to be mentioned with many notable Fisk alumni that came before him and wants to be an inspiration to others.

Already known for his musical skill, and business intellect KenDough decided to start a record label, The Talented Tenth Records. Understanding the importance of branding and keeping with DuBois ideology of bringing along the next person, KenDough is not limiting The Talented Tenth to a record label but is expanding into clothing, sports, films, real estate, financial firms, law firms, restaurants, education, and many more industries. Men or women, KenDough believes everyone is a leader in their own right and is creating the atmosphere for everyone to showcase their leadership and become part of a rare and elite class in the world.
